Mike Huckabee and the Mormons

It kind of surprised me the other day when Mike Huckabee asked a New York Times reporter (probably a Jew) whether Mormons believe that Jesus Christ and Satan are brothers. It seems to me that the Rev. Huckabee ought to know since he was one of my visiting professors at the DeVry Evangelical Institute in Waco, TX.

The Rev. Huckabee taught a course called "Lesser Faiths 101".

Along with Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism and Paganism, the Rev. Huckabee taught us all about Mormonism. I've still got my notes. So according to the Rev. Huckabee:

— Mormon Church: should be called Church of Latter Day Ain'ts. Ain't Christian, ain't holy, ain't no way Smith was a prophet.

— Not only do they believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers, Mormons believe the brothers are both married to a woman named Betty. (I'm not sure if it's the same woman or two women, both named Betty.)

— Mormons refer to the virgin birth as the Rape of Mary.

Anyway, if Mitt Romney wants to know anything about being a Mormon, all he has to do is ask the Rev. Huckabee.

I sincerily hope your comments from Huckabee's Lesser Faith's 101 course are toungue in cheek. It would be hard to imagine educated Christians taking time out of their studies of Christ's example loving all his followers to invest so much time focused on other faiths. It is interesting of course, to ask, what does the SBC teach as doctrine other than slamming other faiths? Christ even tolerated his greatest critics.

I am curious why Baptists seem to promote so much hatred and ignorance while claiming their exclusive hold on the truth. One could equally question the very foundations of a Church called "Baptist" rather than after Jesus Christ as he demanded his church be called after his name. If their is a true church on the earth today, it must, at a minimum, be first called the Church of Jesus Christ and secondly have a prophet and 12 apostles claiming priesthood authority from God. As far as I can tell, Nearly all Christian Faiths today are merely spin offs from Catholicism from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.. So, if this is true, then Baptists claiming any authority to represent Christianity and their constant harrassment of other faiths is merely a mirror image of radical Islamists spreading the same type of hate around the world against Jews, Christians and the West in general. My conclusion is that the SBC and specifically Mr. Huckabee have no right, place or justification for the spreading of ignorance and anyone who listens to it suffers from Arrogance surpased only by their ignorance.

If you want to know about any faith, read their scripture, ask their active and practicing membership and leadership and pray to whomever you believe in for an answer. Pretty simple frankly.
